Fred China, aka the French Goonie, is back. He’s a super-fan, and has been since the first time he saw “The Goonies” when he was a child in the 1980s.

“In 2002, I launched a website called the French Goonies website, that became later goonies1632.com. All I wanted was to share my archives and my passion about the movie,” Fred wrote in an email. “In 2004, I had the great opportunity to travel from France to Astoria for the first time. That was amazing.

“I became friends with the Goonies house owner (Sandi Preston, at the time), and I visited Astoria again in 2010 and twice in 2015. I stayed at the house every time. That’s my most beautiful memory, that was so magical to me … .”

Goonie fans, rejoice. “I closed my website many years ago (to the Ear’s massive disappointment),” Fred revealed, “but I decided to re-open it in 2026.” And, here it is, in all its goonie-ness: thegoonies-movie.com. “Hopefully, you will enjoy it,” Fred added. (Photo: Courtesy of Fred China, 2004)
